I may not be able to speak to the lyrical content of this album, as is with many in my library, but the sound in this album transcends linguistic understanding. It’s laidback, classic and simple. The love for, and fascination with the latin sound started with my dad; as evidenced by the first album in this series.

This album is classy and has a distinctly jazzy vibe, it’s what I call siesta music. Sitting idly in a comfortable chair and in the middle of the afternoon and just being. The sound is rich, complex and is certainly complemented by higher end headphones or speakers which allow you to hear each layer

My best efforts to describe this album will fall woefully short in their ability to do this album justice; you’re better off just listening to the album and experiencing it for yourself.

My picks off of the album are

  1. Chan Chan - The very first track on the album, I think it does a perfect job at setting the pace for the album. It is sparse and yet gives you a great sense of the sound of the album and what one should expect. A very strong opening.

  2. ¿Y Tú Qué Has Hecho? - Laidback, the track sounds like soulful crooning. I personally love the guitar instrumentation and the vocal harmonies on the track.
