There is so much I want to say about this movie.
I find myself staring at the screen long after the credits began rolling to try and articulate the way this film has left me feeling.
I am at a loss for words.
It's a beautiful film. Aesthetically gorgeous. Shot on film. Black and White. Each shot is framed beautifully. Visually stunning. But to describe how a film looked is the easiest thing to do.
To explain how it made me feel is proving to be a much greater challenge. It's a testament to great writing as you move from extreme tensions, to heartwrenching sorrow, but also be light and humourous. There were moments I couldnt stop smiling, but there were also those that brought a tear to my eye.
It's just a conversation between two people, but it is so much more than that. I can't speak for anyone else but this is 2 hours of my life that will stay with me.
It's so deeply layered in what it speaks about, that on the off chance that you find yourself paying attention to the dialogue (rather than the genuine chemistry between the two characters on screen), you cant help but smirk and think "oh i see what you did there"
there are many in this world more knowledgeable than I, to quantify what makes this piece of cinema good or bad; but this film has left its mark on me. It's poignant, brutally honest, astonishingly bare and I loved every single minute of it.
John David Washington is the cinematic tour-de-force :) however Zendaya stole the show for me with one scene in particular involving a knife. Just do yourself a favour and watch the film, you'll thank yourself for it.
P.S.
The soundtrack was just perfect.

I completely agree. What a treat to the senses and the mind. It kept me riveted and thinking and the layers for a long time. So well made.
